AMC Energy Initiatives
Regular washing can make aircaft engines run cleaner and cooler, saving on fuel consumption and maintenance costs. Currently, C-17s and KC-10s receive regular engine washes, and AMC is looking into expanding this to othe aircraft. In this photo: Contractors from Pratt & Whitney install the wash hose of an ECO System to the front of a KC-135R Stratotanker engine at Scott AFB, Ill., on August 24, 2011. Washing the engine is expected to reduce the Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) margin by 5-6 degrees. (U.S. AF photo by Master Sgt. Ken Stephens) (Released)
