Tanker’s first flight over top of the world marks new era in efficiency
First Lt. Remington Barnes, a 92nd Air Refueling Squadron pilot from Fairchild Air Force Base, Wash., studies a checklist during a historic KC-135 Stratotanker mission over the Arctic Circle on June 21, 2011. Lieutenant Barnes helped fly the aircraft and three other members to their deployed location at the Transit Center at Manas, Kyrgyzstan. The Arctic mission provides a new non-stop route from the United States to Kyrgyzstan. (U.S. Air Force Photo/Capt. Kathleen Ferrero)
