C-17 in South Africa
Members of the 106th Rescue Wing from Francis S. Gabreski Air National Guard Base in Westhampton Beach, N.Y., arrived at Air Force Base Ysterplaat Cape Town, South Africa on Sept. 18, 2010, aboard a C-17 Globemaster III. The C-17 Globemaster III from Papa Air Base, Hungary, routinely supports European Union, NATO and U.N missions with a strategic airlift and global reach capability. The 106th took part in the African Aerospace Defense Exposition 2010.
