Past and present heroes honor the fallen
Lt. Col. (Ret.) Ernest Jenkins observes as representatives from all military branches fold the American flag during a Prisoner of War/Missing in Action retreat ceremony on Joint Base Charleston, S.C., Sept. 17, 2010.The retreat commenced after the end of a 24-hour, joint-service run, which kept military service flags and the POW/MIA flag in constant motion. Colonel Jenkins, a former prisoner of war, was detained in Bath, Germany, during World War II after his B-17 was shot down. He was imprisoned for 17 months.
