Big for a Day
Tech. Sgt. Benjamin Ireland, 22nd Security Forces Squadron unit deployment manager, assists Dexter R., a Sedgewick County’s Big Brothers Big Sisters “little” with archery during a “Big for a Day” event, Aug. 5, 2010, McConnell Air Force Base, Kan. Several of Team McConnell are “bigs” – Big Brothers or Big Sisters, for high risk youth. These bigs volunteer their time to be role models and provide “littles” with life-enriching activities. The Big Brothers Big Sisters program visits McConnell to foster mentorship between local children and the base populace, while becoming familiar with the 22nd Air Refueling Wing mission.
