Maintenance Airmen like Flores are part of the effort spearheaded by an initiative from Headquarters Air Mobility Command at Scott Air Force Base, Ill., that focuses on changing the use of how aircraft auxiliary power units are utilized. According to the AMC Fuel Efficiency Office, C-5, C-17 and KC-10 aircraft operated approximately 76,609 sorties in fiscal year 2011.
