Haiti air delivery mission
A C-17 Globemaster III is loaded with humanitarian supply pallets Jan. 21, 2010, at Pope Air Force Base, Fayetteville, N.C. The pallets will be air dropped over Haiti for a relief mission. The C-17, from Charleston Air Force Base, Charleston S.C., will be conducting a humanitarian air delivery mission over Haiti. U.S. Southern Command is deploying assets to Haiti to conduct search and rescue operations, damage assessments, and transitions sustained Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Relief operations in order to prevent human suffering and additional loss of life.
