Operation Unified Response
Air Force Tech. Sgt. Aaron Avery works with chute anchor cables on his C-17 Globemaster III cargo aircraft after pallets of relief supplies exited his aircraft over Haiti Jan. 18, 2010. The C-17, crewed by Airmen from the 437th Airlift Wing at Charleston Air Force Base, S.C., departed Pope AFB, N.C., and delivered 40 pallets of food and water. The mission was the first of its kind during Operation Unified Response to test the feasibility of providing supplies through air delivery. (U.S. Air Force photo by Master Sgt. Shane A.
