Under the Influence
FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. – Master Sgt. Amy Friberg, 92nd Contracting Squadron, takes a ride in a DUI simulator here May 24. The simulator, hosted by the safety office, was a mandatory Wingman Day activity for Airmen through Senior Airmen, but was open to anyone wishing to try it out. Presented as an interactive video game, the simulator matches blood-alcohol content level to the driver’s weight and height, demonstrating how driving skills decline as alcohol intake increases – blurred sight, increased break and wheel response time, etc. “To think people drive like this is scary,” said Sergeant Friberg, who drove the simulator under the influence of five drinks in two hours.
