Travis Air Force Base's first C-17 mission
The cargo doors on the back of the “Spirit of Solano” start to close after it was loaded with pallets en route to the C-17s first mission, Aug. 9 in support of the Global War on Terrorism. The C-17 began its mission only one day after arriving at Travis Air Force Base. The arrival of the C-17 makes Travis the first and only base to house all three weapons systems in the Air Force.
