Maj. Christian Langfeldt (left) and Capt. Oeyvind Haaheim, Norwegian air force pilots, perform a pre-flight check before takeoff in a C-17 simulator at the C-17 Aircrew Training Center while enrolled in a C-17 pilot training course at Altus Air Force Base, Okla., in April 2009. Major Langfeldt and and Captain Haaheim are stationed with the Strategic Airlift Capability Heavy Airlift Wing at Papa Air Base, Hungary. C-17 simulators such as this one are part of an Air Mobility Command initiative to link simulators throughout the command. Officials said this linking initiative will greatly increase the amount of training in air refueling and formation that can be accomplished in simulators. The goal is to have all 10 of the C-17 simulator locations, including Altus, connected through the command’s distributed training center by 2012. (U.S. Air Force Photo/Senior Airman Clinton Atkins)
