Berlin Airlift Panel
Col. (Retired) Gail Halvorsen describes his Berlin Airlift experiences during a panel held at MacDill Air Force Base, Fla. The panel was part of PHOENIX RALLY and discussed the importance of the Berlin Airlift and how it helped shape air mobility. Colonel Halvorsen played an important role in the Berlin Airlift and is known as the "Candy Bomber" because he dropped candy with parachutes attached to them for the kids of Germany during the Airlift.
