Packin' rings
BALAD AIR BASE, Iraq -- Crew chiefs from the 721st Air Mobility Maintenance Group Detachment 5, clean the rings on the nose landing gear assembly strut of a C-17 before re-installing, Feb. 8. The rolled and exposed seal, found earlier that day on the assembly, could cause decompression of the hydraulic fluid resulting in nose damage or penetration of the cockpit.
