Packin' rings
BALAD AIR BASE, Iraq -- Airman 1st Class Richard Garner, 721st Air Mobility Maintenance Group Detachment 5 crew chief, pumps up a jack for a C-17 before performing maintenance here, Feb. 8. The C-17, from Travis Air Force Base, Calif., had a rolled and exposed seal in the nose landing gear strut assembly, which could have caused decompression of the hydraulic fluid stored inside to cushion landing. Ensuring aircraft are returned to operational status in a timely manner is imperative to mission success. Airman Garner is deployed from Travis Air Force Base, Calif.
