Senior Airman Richard T. Kaminski
Cargo is off-loaded from a U.S. Air Force C-141B Starlifter parked on a runway of ice at McMurdo Base, Antarctica, Sept. 30, 1997. The Starlifter was deployed to Christchurch, New Zealand, from the 62nd Airlift Wing, McChord Air Force Base, Wash. in support of Operation DEEP FREEZE. Operation DEEP FREEZE is a combined military operation conducted by U.S. military and the New Zealand Defence Forces, to provide logistical support for the U.S. National Science Foundation's Antarctic program.
