U.S. Air Force loadmasters from the 39th Airlift Squadron prepare to drop an Improvised Container Delivery System bundle, July 29, 2015, at Dyess Air Force Base, Texas. An ICDS derives from a traditional Container Delivery System but uses a sonde, an instrument that acts as a Global Positioning System receiver. The sonde is released from the aircraft on the first pass over a drop zone to better calculate the winds throughout the air column.
