C-17 flare testing
C-5 aircrew from Travis Air Force Base, Calif., and C-17 aircrew from Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., talk prior to flying a mission over test range at Eglin AFB, Fla., March 4, 2016. The two aircrews flew to Eglin to test the aircraft defense systems as part of Air Mobility Command’s flare effectiveness testing. The crews spent more than eight nights ejecting the flares from their aircraft so a team on the ground from AMC and Georgia Tech Research Institute and other partners could analyze the results of the test.
