92nd CES multi-agency aircraft response exercise
Firefighters from the 92nd Civil Engineer Squadron bring a mannequin down a ladder during a training exercise May 11, 2016, at Fairchild Air Force Base, Wash. The crews responded to a simulated aircraft crash where an F-18 experienced various mechanical issues and clipped a nearby structure. During the descent, the pilot was forced to drop armament and then eject. “We follow a life safety, incident isolation and property conservation checklist,” said Master Sgt. Christopher Lance, 92nd CES assistant fire chief. “With incidents similar to this, we first focus on the pilot - then any victims inside the building. Life safety is the priority then we work on containing the incident.” (U.S. Air Force photo/Airman 1st Class Taylor Bourgeous)
