A U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III from McChord Air Force Base, Washington, takes off Aug. 25, 2021, at Travis AFB, California. The McChord C-17 stopped while en route to an undisclosed location in support of Operation Allies Refuge to pick up Airmen and equipment from the 860th and 660th AMXS. The two maintenance squadrons maintain the C-17 and KC-10 Extender, respectively. The U.S. Air Force, in support of the Department of Defense, moved forces into theater to facilitate the safe departure and relocation of U.S. citizens, Special Immigration Visa recipients, and vulnerable Afghan populations from Afghanistan.
