  • Guardian Angels support NASA launch

    The 58th Rescue Squadron’s Guardian Angels assigned to Nellis Air Force Base made up the three-team Space Flight Support Force distributed amongst Patrick AFB, Fla., Joint Base Charleston, S.C., and JB Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, in support of the historic launch. 
  • Expanding the Mission

    Nearly 50 years ago, astronauts Neil A. Armstrong, Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin, and Michael Collins made the journey back from the moon onboard Apollo 11. The men passed into Earth’s atmosphere and made a splash landing in the Pacific Ocean. This was the end of the astronauts’ journey, but it was only the beginning for rescue and recovery teams. Detachment 3, of the 45th Operations Group, is responsible for coordinating astronaut rescue and recovery support for our nation’s human space flight programs. This unique mission requires careful planning and coordination between NASA, the Department of Defense and other supporting agencies.
  • 515th AMOW welcomes new commander

    Col. Craig Harmon assumed command of the 515th Air Mobility Operations Wing during a change of command ceremony here June 1. Maj. Gen. Christopher Bence, U.S. Air Force Expeditionary Center commander, presided over the ceremony in which Col. Scott Zippwald relinquished command of the 515th AMOW to Harmon.
