    ​As the COVID-19 pandemic sweeps through the U.S., Joint Base Charleston is able to keep their C-17 Globemaster III’s flying by implementing a medical screening process for aircrew members.
  • Humanitarian mission helps those in need while providing training for AE, aircrew

    Airmen from the 315th Airlift Wing deployed a C-17 Globemaster III Feb. 1, 2020 to deliver donated humanitarian aid to Honduras, in support of the Denton Program. The Denton Program is a Department of Defense transportation program that moves humanitarian cargo, donated by U.S. based non-governmental organizations to developing nations to ease human suffering. The program helps move donations from one spot to another to ensure proper delivery while simultaneously providing training hours for aircrews.

  • Airlift Wing and AMOW pioneer C-5 maintenance training concept

    More than 30 Air Force Reserve maintainers assigned to the 512th Airlift Wing along with a 436th Airlift Wing C-5M Super Galaxy aircraft and crew traveled to Ramstein Air Base, Germany, Nov. 23, 2018, to assist the 521st Air Mobility Operations Wing with vital hands-on, airframe-specific training.
  • Joint Base Charleston conducts the Air Force’s first ‘social media reenactment’ of the D-Day invasion

    On the evening June 5 and the early morning of June 6, 2018, Joint Base Charleston will conduct a real-time historical reenactment of the D-Day invasion, solely on social media. Starting at 7 p.m., both the 437th and 315th Airlift Wings will start Facebook and Twitter posts as if the D-Day invasion is happening in real-time, as it did 74 year ago, through the eyes of their predecessors, the 437th and 315th Troop Carrier Groups.

  • Reserve defenders keep watch

    A group of Citizen Airmen from the 507th Security Forces Squadron here deployed March 31 to Kandahar Air Base, Afghanistan, to support the Afghan Air Force in their fight against insurgents in support of NATO’s Resolute Support mission.
