Welcome to the Air Terminal Rota, Spain

The Air Terminal is an U.S. Navy operated AMC Terminal. Whether you are stationed in the area or just passing through, Air Terminal personnel are here to assist you with your AMC travel needs. Please understand that our passenger agents have no control over the amount of "Space Available" seats or aircraft departure schedules. Both seats and times are subject to last minute changes. We will make every effort to ensure travel opportunities are posted and provide you with a clean, comfortable Terminal while you are waiting for your flight.

Patriot Express: Duty passengers on Travel Orders booked on Patriot Express flights may check-in 24 hours prior to departure. Duty passengers must be in line NO LATER THAN (NLT) 3 hours  prior to scheduled departure. Please see our tentative 30 Day Patriot Express Schedule below.

Duty Standby & Space Available Passengers

Roll calls are conducted at the Terminal 3 hours prior to departure. Due to COVID 19 medical screening, it is recommended that passengers arrive approximately one hour prior to roll call time, in order to ensure time for processing.

Space Available seats are often limited, therefor, passenger planning and flexibility is key to Space Available travel.

Passengers are reminded that baggage limitations are: 2 bags per individual, limited to 70 pounds max weight per bag and not to exceed the dimensions of 62 linear inches. Passengers may have one carry-on bag and one personal item, that must fit under any aircraft seat.

Local Travel Information

Naval Station Rota is located on the Atlantic coast of southern Spain, approximately 70 miles from the Strait of Gibraltar. Rota Is known as the "Gateway to the Mediterranean." Rota is located across the bay from the romantic city of Cadiz, the oldest city and shipping port in Spain. Nestled in the Andalusian region, the area is famous for its sherry, flamenco and sevillana dancing, and the breeding of prize horses and fighting bulls. Spain offers a wide variety of historical sights and cultural experiences. We hope you are able to take advantage of our location and enjoy exciting adventures and rewarding travels.Distance to nearby travel destinations: Jerez de la Frontera 39 kms., Cadiz 44 kms., Sevilla 125 kms., Cordoba 261 kms., Granada 298 kms, and Madrid 651 kms.

Nearby Commercial Airports: Jerez de la Frontera, Sevilla and Malaga.

Nearby Train Stations: El Puerto de Santa Maria and Jerez de la Frontera.

Places to stay. On-base billeting is very limited. Personnel on orders should have reservations prior to arrival.

Navy Gateway Inn and Suites and Navy Lodge.

Off-base billeting. You may find hotels in Rota, El Puerto de Santa Maria, Jerez de la Frontera and Chipiona. The months of July, August and September are the summer high season and you may experience problems to book rooms unless reservations are made ahead of time.

 

USO Information

The USO  is located in the hall-way next to the main lobby at the Air Terminal.
- Hours of operation are: Monday through Friday from 08:30 to 16:30 and AMC flights supported.
