Mobility Airmen,
Thank you for your service.
I hope that you hear that phrase a few times over the next few days as we take time to enjoy the Veterans Day holiday.
We live in an incredible country where service in the military is voluntary. You didn’t have to sign up. You didn’t have to commit to this life we call service to our country…but you did. You raised your hand and swore to defend this nation from all enemies. You swore that you would take that oath freely. You live a life of integrity, service, and excellence every day, so that the citizens of this great nation can live in peace and freedom. Your service matters now, more than ever.
Two days ago, I spoke at the 9/11 Memorial in New York and placed a wreath in memory of the military members who lost their lives ensuring a tragedy like that would never happen again. Walking those hallowed grounds reaffirmed my resolve to ensure the security of our nation. In a time when so few Americans know what it’s like to serve, I am proud that we do.
You deliver rapid global mobility in the toughest of circumstances. You do it all without asking for any recognition or expecting a thank you.
On this Veterans Day I salute you. Today, and every day, I thank you.
Thank you for your service.
Very Respectfully,
Dewey
