Aircraft of Air Mobility Command
This photo illustration highlights some of the aircraft assigned to Air Mobility Command, which is headquartered at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. Those aircraft include airlifters like the C-130 Hercules, C-5 Galaxy and C-17 Globemaster III as well as air refueling aircraft like the KC-135 Stratotanker and the KC-10 Extender. Air Mobility Command's mission is to provide global air mobility ... right effects, right place, right time. The command also plays a crucial role in providing humanitarian support at home and around the world. AMC Airmen -- active duty, Air National Guard, Air Force Reserve and civilians -- provide airlift and aerial refueling for all of America's armed forces. Many special duty and operational support aircraft and aeromedical evacuation missions are also assigned to AMC. (U.S. Air Force Photo Illustration/Master Sgt. Scott T. Sturkol)
