Air Mobility Command officials unveiled four areas within the Global Reach Planning Center and AMC Headquarters here July 30 that have been renovated to honor AMC's past, present and future accomplishments.

"Showing this is a chance for you to see the renovations and learn a little about our history," said Gen. Arthur Lichte, AMC commander, to a crowd of approximately 80 people in attendance for the event. The event also included a session of the "Tanker Living Legends" in the GRPC's renovated auditorium.

Mrs. Gail "Wojo" Wojtowicz, AMC director of staff, explained the new renovations to the GRPC auditorium, commander's room and hospitality suite as well as main conference room in the AMC headquarters building.

Of the renovations, Mrs. Wojtowicz noted those made to the executive conference room at the GRPC. In the room, portraits of the mobility Air Force's past major command's commanders were moved from AMC Headquarters across the street to the GRPC.

The portrait timeline for the executive conference room starts with Brig. Gen. Robert Olds, commander of the Air Corps Ferrying Command from May 1941 to March 1942, and ends with Gen. Duncan J. McNabb, commander of AMC from October 2005 to September 2007.

Additionally, the executive conference room wall is covered in historic commanders not only from AMC, but also other past commands such as Air Transport Command, Strategic Air Command, Military Air Transport Service, U.S. Transport Command and the Military Airlift Command.

"It is a place of true honor," said Mrs. Wojtowicz. "It's a place where we can look back on history."

The center GRPC's auditorium now features the shields of AMC, Air National Guard and the Air Force Reserve Command surrounded by individual wing's shields. Leading up to the newly displayed emblems are 12 mural-size photos on the side walls displaying AMC Airmen in action as they perform duties of mission requirements. They are snapshots of the work done in airlift, air refueling, humanitarian operations and more.

"We wanted to show people," said Mrs. Wojtowicz, "because it's our people who get the job done for us in AMC."

GRPC's hospitality suite makeover now highlight AMC's mission through 15 action photo collages. Along with two collages to represent "Global Reach East" and "West," AMC's wings put together their individual wing portraits. They showcase aeromedical evacuation, security forces, maintenance, AMC aircraft, airlift, air refueling, humanitarian aid, base and city landmarks and highlights.

"It pays tribute to each of the wings in AMC," said Mrs. Wojtowicz.

The main conference room in AMC headquarters replaced wing and command emblems with photographs of AMC aircraft at work. These photographs display tankers fueling the fight, air lift and other critical workings of AMC.

"It's a salute to airlift and air refueling," said Mrs. Wojtowicz.

General Lichte said the display renovations provide an opportunity to learn about AMC history and the improvements that have been made.

"It highlights our past, what we are doing now and our people," said General Lichte, "including the Guard and Reserve."
