TSgt Stewart Mitchell, 319th Air Base Wing weapons safety manager, inspects a pyrotechnic munition package during an airfield management inventory inspection on Grand Forks AFB, N.D. "Bird Bangers" are blank ammunition that creates a loud noise when shot off into the distance that are used to scare birds and other wildlife from the flight line so that aircraft are able to safely land or take off.
