AF STEM grant gives students a reason to reach for the skies
Joshua Strausbaugh, Belle Valley School science teacher, speaks with a local farmer in Mount Carmel, Illinois after his students travelled 140 miles to recover their high-altitude computer, launched in Belleville, Illinois, which analyzed data ranging from altitude and coordinates traveled to temperature and pressure, Nov. 30, 2018. In the end, the balloon reached a maximum altitude of 22.5 miles and recorded a temperature low of 67 degrees Fahrenheit. The balloon launch was made possible through an Air Force science, technology, engineering, and mathematics grant.
