    June 6th is a date that has become synonymous with valor, sacrifice and dedication. As Operation Overlord commenced, thousands of men boarded aircraft bound for the Normandy coastline of France. As dawn approached, the feet of the men touched down as the first wave of the invasion hit. The leaders of the Allied Nations held their breath in hopes that this operation would be the beginning of the end of Nazi-controlled Europe.

    Top Air Force leaders convened June 3-7, 2019, for the CORONA South summit at MacDill Air Force Base, Fla. CORONA South allows senior leaders such as Air Force Chief of Staff, Gen. David Goldfein and Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force Kaleth O. Wright to meet in-person with other Air Force commanders to discuss strategy and policy.
  • C-130s over Normandy

    C-130s from the 317th Airlift Wing, Dyess Air Force Base, Texas and the 314th AW, Little Rock AFB, Arkansas, fly in formation over the beaches of Normandy, France, while participating in fly-over events June 4, 2019. More than 26 aircraft and 2,000 military personnel from various units and countries will participate in approximately 55 commemorative D-Day events from May 31 to June 9, 2019.
