  • MacDill TF team conducts readiness exercise

    Mobility Airmen from the 6th and 927th Air Refueling Wings participated in a joint readiness exercise here Aug. 26-28, 2020. The exercise tested Team MacDill’s ability to rapidly deploy and conduct air-refueling operations while complying with real-world COVID-19 pandemic countermeasures. Through robust and relevant training, the exercise is designed to build readiness and develop Mobility Airmen to ensure they deliver rapid global mobility now and in the future.

    Over the past four months, most Airmen have supported the mission through teleworking. However, many others have adjusted by implementing social distancing and stricter sanitization standards in their work centers, all while continuing to enable the unmatched air refueling mission. According to Master Sgt. Adam Ingram, the 6th Logistics Readiness Squadron Vehicle Management superintendent, being a customer service flight presents increased safety concerns for his Airmen.
  • MacDill’s newest commanders: Ready to lead despite COVID-19

    The month of June marked the beginning of the change of command season for MacDill AFB, with six Air Force leaders stepping into new command positions at the squadron level, and two assuming roles as group commanders. The change of command ceremony is a deeply rooted military tradition, with symbolism that can be traced back to the 18th century. However, just as the operating environment of the Air Force has been forced to shift because of the COVID-19 pandemic, so too did the procedures of how new commanders are welcomed into their new assignments.
  • Opening the dialogue: MacDill leaders committed to understanding and inclusion

    Across the Air Force, open dialogue for the tough conversations regarding race are taking place. Senior leaders are encouraging base commanders and unit supervisors to open the lines of communication for their Airmen to have these difficult discussions. In line with Air Force senior leaders, the 6th Air Refueling Wing leadership team convened on June 1, to hold initial conversations focused on the unique perspectives of MacDill’s Airmen and to find a way forward concerning racial biases.
  • Team MacDill salutes first responders, healthcare professionals with KC-135 flyover

    MacDill Air Force Base has called the Tampa Bay area home for more than 80 years. Through the years, the community has extended unwavering support and enabled the base to execute its mission in defense of the nation. As a salute to the community’s healthcare heroes, MacDill AFB conducted a flyover of 12 local hospitals, on May 15, 2020.
  • Team MacDill salutes Tampa Bay’s front-line heroes

    Everyday KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft lift off from the flight line at MacDill, take to the skies and carry out training sorties and refueling missions along the gulf and the southeast region. However, on Friday, May 15, the flight path of two of MacDill’s refueling aircraft will look completely different as MacDill plans to salute local health care heroes with a fly over of the Tampa Bay area.

  • AMC commander visits Team MacDill

    Gen. Maryanne Miller, Air Mobility Command commander, Maj. Gen. Sam Barrett, 18th Air Force commander and Chief Master Sgt. Terrence Greene, AMC command chief, visited Team MacDill Feb. 12-14 to witness first-hand how Airmen here deliver unmatched air refueling, installation and mission support.
