  • Airmen find solution to KC-135 and C-130 battery testing failure, reducing cost and maintenance delays

    Airmen from Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base, Ohio, and Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, helped revise outdated procedures for testing the condition of aircraft batteries on the KC-135 Stratotanker and C-130 Hercules, preventing the premature disposal and replacement of batteries and avoiding unnecessary equipment costs and maintenance hours.

Her hard work and dedication during World War II helped save the world and led her to many places, the most recent being the 459th Air Refueling Wing. “It’s a great day to be at the 459th Air Refueling Wing,” Krier said. “I’m excited to share my story with the women and men here, and to see the tanker.”

    Almost 20 years to the day, Airmen from the 141st Air Refueling Wing at Fairchild Air Force Base will be returning to Geilenkirchen NATO Air Base, Germany to commemorate the fallen crew of ESSO 77 in a remembrance ceremony dedicated in their honor.
  • 121st ARW honors WASP legacy

    The 121st Air Refueling Wing dedicated one of their KC-135 Stratotankers to honor the legacy of WASP July 13, 2018. Lockbourne Air Force Base, which was renamed Rickenbacker AFB in 1974, was a training location for female pilots from October 17, 1943 to January 13 of 1944. 13 females became fully qualified test pilots on B-17 Flying Fortresses. The success of the WASP program proved that women could fly any aircraft and the impact of that would resonate for years to come.
  • Spokane media witnesses rapid global mobility

    One of Air Mobility Command’s strategic objectives to ‘Deliver airlift, air refueling, aeromedical evacuation and air mobility support where and when needed to support the Air Force, joint and collation operations’ was met Thursday as several Spokane-area media outlets witnessed first-hand the capabilities of the KC-135 Stratotanker.
