    Airmen from 22d EARS honor Shell 77 legacy

    Airmen from the 22d Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron and the tanker community paused for 77 seconds of synchronized silence to commemorate the legacy of the fallen heroes of “Shell 77” May 3, 2019, at Incirlik Air Base, Turkey. Six years ago, the air refueling community lost three of their own when a KC-135R crashed in Chaldovar, Kyrgyz Republic, after departing to conduct a combat mission. The aircrew members who died were Capt. Mark T. Voss; Capt. Victoria A. Pinckney; and Tech Sgt. Herman “Tre” Mackey III., who were deployed to the 22d EARS in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

    Team Fairchild first to train refueling KC-46

    A Team Fairchild KC-135 Stratotanker participated in air refueling training and support to the KC-46 Pegasus over Washington on January 22. This first of its kind event for an AMC KC-135 with an AMC crew enabled completion of the training required to successfully deliver two KC-46s to McConnell AFB later that week, on January 25.

    Leaders from Fairchild Air Force Base visited the 76th Aircraft Maintenance Group Nov. 18-20, during a site visit to Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma. Tinker AFB is made up of 5,500 acres with 460 buildings hosting operational missions for the Air Force, Navy as well as several other Department of Defense agencies.

    Fairchild partners with Kansas ANG Airmen for MITO training

    Team Fairchild instructor pilots trained with aircrews and KC-135 Stratotankers from the Air National Guard 117th Air Refueling Squadron located in Forbes Field, Kansas to practice Minimum Interval Take-Off training Oct. 24 –26. MITO reduces the amount of time between aircraft launches, automatically positioning the jets in a standard group formation once airborne.

    Fairchild’s Airmen support KC-46A, B-52 training

    Airmen from Fairchild’s 384th Air Refueling Squadron supported a KC-46A Pegasus during a training operation with a B-52 Stratofortress in the Northwest region of the United States, Oct. 3, 2018. The purpose of the training mission was to test the new refueler’s capability to perform inflight refueling connections specifically with the B-52 airframe.

    MWD training takes flight

    Throughout the month of August, the 92nd Security Forces Squadron MWD section trained with the 36th Rescue Squadron to learn and become familiar with the components of a huey aircraft in preparation for deployment missions.

    Fairchild Airmen perform first test of new chemical defense mask on KC-135

    In the midst of calm or chaos, there lies a potential for aircrews to fight the faceless combatants of chemical and biological agents. U.S. military personnel actively operate within areas that maintain the capability to employ these agents, making individual protective equipment imperative to mission readiness. Fairchild aircrew members performed the first-ever test of the Joint Service Aircrew Mask on a KC-135 Stratotanker during a night-flight July 17.
