  • Fairchild Airmen support NORAD exercise Amalgam Dart 21-01

    Fairchild Air Force Base KC-135 Stratotanker aircrews participated in the North American Aerospace Defense Command’s Arctic air defense exercise, Amalgam Dart 21-01, here, June 12-19, 2021. The exercise featured a variety of military aircraft from the Royal Canadian Air Force and U.S. Air Force, operating out of northern locations, including Alaska, Canada and Greenland.

  • AFCEC spearheads Little Rock AFB runway replacement

    The Air Force Civil Engineer Center is leading a $180 million project to replace the 64-year-old runway at Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas. AFCEC’s Facility Engineering Directorate is teaming with the Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center’s Detachment 9, 772nd Enterprise Sourcing Squadron and 19th Civil Engineering Squadron to replace the 12,000-foot-long primary runway, eliminate airfield obstructions and modify the lighting and navigation aid systems.
  • Team MacDill salutes first responders, healthcare professionals with KC-135 flyover

    MacDill Air Force Base has called the Tampa Bay area home for more than 80 years. Through the years, the community has extended unwavering support and enabled the base to execute its mission in defense of the nation. As a salute to the community’s healthcare heroes, MacDill AFB conducted a flyover of 12 local hospitals, on May 15, 2020.
  • Aircraft airflow tested in Nebraska to reduce COVID-19 spread

    Active duty, Reserve and Air National Guard components from AMC, in coordination with the University of Nebraska Medical Center and Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, worked April 4-11 at the 155th Air Refueling Wing examining airflow and particles to assess ways to prevent the spread of the coronavirus to aircrew.
  • Fairchild refuels Whiteman B-2 aircraft

    Team Fairchild refueled two B-2 Spirit Stealth Bombers from the 509th Bomb Wing, Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri, as part of air refueling qualification training, Feb. 24-28 at Whiteman AFB. Air refueling qualification training ensures that both KC-135 Stratotanker and B-2 aircrews remain prepared to support Air Force missions around the globe. It also gave crews an in-depth look at skills needed to refuel the B-2.
